This cemetery lies nestled in the midst of the hills of the Souris Valley, northeast of Roche Percee Sask Park. The land owner was R. E. Hawkins. A small interdenominational church, dedicated in 1892, stood beside the cemetery at one time. The church was later moved to the hamlet of Taylorton. On May 23 1922, the RM of Coal- fields became the owner of this cemetery. In January 1985, a group of people decided to restore the cemetery. The Government of Sask. has proclaimed this cemetery to be a historic site.
Much research has been done and to date, the committee knows there are 55 graves with markers at the east end of the cemetery, 18 graves are known to be on the west end, beside the gate. According to records obtained through church records, etc, there are 29 known persons buried and unmarked graves in the cemetery. These graves now have a marker.
The first known burials in the cemetery were in 1903, and the last in 1954.
Mr James Cook recorded each burial, at the time burial took place. He later moved to Estevan then Regina, and is now deceased. Hilda Carlson has tried to locate his record book, but book can not be found.
The following list of names and dates was recorded from the headstones, and church records, etc.
This list was compiled by: Hilda Carlson, Bienfait SK and Ingrid Beahm, Roche Percee SK.
