LUNDQUIST & SONS
ESTEVAN

Oscar Lundquist and family came to Canada from Minnesota in 1898 and settled in Estevan.

It is not known what happened before 1903 but then the Lundquist & Sons show up as bankers. The gazetteer lists - LUNDQUIST & SONS - private bankers in 1904, 1905 and 1906. Also R.G.Dun lists the private bank of Lundquist & Sons in 1906.

In 1904 the Lundquists built the Estevan Roller Mills, a flour mill that was operated by Adolphus Eveden.

This 1906 letterhead shows - LUNDQUIST & SONS, BANKERS and that the company is not incorporated. A general banking business transacted. It shows -
P. N. LUNDQUIST - President
Wm. LUNDQUIST - Vice-President
LYN LUNDQUIST - General Manager
O. J. LUNDQUIST - Secretary & Cashier

On June 1st, 1905; a Memorandum of Association was presented to the Registrar at Regina for the ESTEVAN MILLING COMPANY with head office at Estevan.
P. N. Lundquist, Estevan, banker - President (80 shares)
O. J. Lundquist, Estevan, banker - Vice-President & Treasurer (40 shares)
Lyn Lundquist, Estevan - Secretary & Manager (40 shares)

The Summary of Capital & Shares statement on March 12, 1906 of the Estevan Milling Company shows - Oscar J. Lundquist, Estevan - Ex-Banker

The Bank of British North America came to Estevan on September 16th , 1903 and it appears that this bank purchased the business of Lundquist & Sons, Bankers late in 1905 or early in 1906.

The Estevan Milling Company was struck off the records on May 13th, 1912.

(Page 126) MACOUN - MACOUN SECURITY BANK

This bank is listed in the directories from 1905 to 1912 but with no papers of that area to view. I have been unable to come up with an ad or other confirmation of it's existence. However, it did operate as it is mentioned in the Macoun history book - Sixtieth Anniversary. Here it states that A.A. Dahlstrom was the manager of the private bank and they also had an elevator. Their dates state the bank was in operation from 1904 to 1906. (Page 127) TRIBUNE - ESTEVAN SECURITY BANK

This bank is listed in the 1915 directory and the book "History of Tribune" states - "Estevan Security opened a bank which was managed by Les Thompson but it closed two years after it started". While Tribune did have a paper, the Herald, none of the earlier issues are in the Archives. (Page 131)
