I heartily recommend the reading of this well written book, a history of Estevan, written by a capable journalist and former editor, Mr. Andrew King.
The book commences by outlining the general resources of the area. It recollects the establishment of Estevan as a village and continues to follow its growth to a town and later to a city. The book describes the industries, schools, churches, service clubs, fraternal organizations, societies and clubs of the City. It is a factual and informative history, which will be of interest to new as well as old time residents of the community.
The author was commissioned by a group of prominent Estevan citizens who undertook to underwrite the cost of publication. To write Estevan's history in Canada's Centennial Year is a worthwhile Centennial project, and I commend the citizens who have taken the initiative in assuring that a history of our city is published.
It is a pleasure for me as the mayor of the City of Estevan, during Canada's Centennial Year, to give my personal endorsement to this excellent publication.
Sincerely,
