Main Objective: The purpose of the project is for the students to utilize the line dancing steps taught in class to create their own dances. Dancing was an important social event during this time. Dances of the Klondike era will also be investigated and used in this assignment. The students will use the digital camera to record the steps in the dances. They will also write up short descriptions of the steps using Apple Works.
Subject area: Arts Education - Dance
Length of time: 2 class periods of 45 minutes each
Technology skill level - moderate
Technology requirements - digital camera and Apple works
Objectives:
1. Shaping a dance composition - begin to use a variety of choreographic
forms from the Klondike era.
2. Sequencing and development - sequence movements purposefully when creating dance compositions
Technology will be used to help the students:
1. operate a digital camera
2. access photos off of the camera and type descriptions to explain
the steps
Main Steps:
1. Explain and demonstrate how to operate the digital camera.
2. Break the students into groups of six.
3. Students will create a dance based on the line dancing steps learned in class.
4. Students will use the digital camera to show the steps in the dance.
5. Students will down load the pictures onto the computer and type a short description for each.
